The Future of This Newsletter

Two months ago, our Soccer Bus died on the side of a California highway. 

With an engine to replace, and essentially the entire World Cup ahead of us, I’d be lying if I said we didn’t feel completely lost without it during those first few days of the tournament.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who reached out back then. From the messages of support to mechanic recommendations, each word got us closer to getting it fixed (more updates on that below) and gave us the motivation to keep going when it seemed like all our dreams were crushed.

Although we missed the bus on the road, its absence gave us a chance to experience the World Cup in a way we could have never dreamt of. From watching a game at the Spanish Society in St. Louis (with the family of a USMNT player who beat England at the 1950 World Cup), to climbing on top of the iconic Dutch Oranje Bus in Kansas City, to partying with Scottish fans in Boston, to driving a group of random Argentinians up to the Final after all flights to New York were canceled… the amazing communities we were lucky to visit, the incredible people we got to meet, and fascinating stories we heard the last two months showed us yet again why this sport continues to grow and inspire so many on our shores.

In all that World Cup madness, though, I missed sending out this regular newsletter for a few weeks, and I’d like to apologize for the brief hiatus this summer. The broken bus and the whirlwind of the tournament threw me a bit off course, but it’s time to get back to it!

Later next month, we’ll return to our regular programming… from insane historical soccer tales to current hidden stories. In the meantime, I’d love to hear what you’ve enjoyed (and not enjoyed) reading in these emails over the last couple of years, so we can make them even better moving forward!
